On the 18th June 1944 a V1 rocket hit the Guards Chapel in London during a Sunday morning service. 121 soldiers and civilians were killed, and a further 141 were seriously injured. Six of the dead were WVS members, one was Violet Wilson, who looked after Gibraltarian refugees in London.
